Carina Fiedeldey-Van Dijk, Ph.D.

Senior Research Scientist

Carina helps companies bring out the best in their employees, leaders and customers through research consulting. With a career path that includes experience in both academia and the corporate word, she is president of ePsy Consultancy in Toronto, Canada. She assesses, researches and consults on the intricate dynamics that drive performance. These often culminate in emotional intelligence competencies.

As the Senior Research Scientist for Six Seconds, Carina contributed significantly to the development, psychometric validation, and statistical analysis of several tools, such as the Six Seconds Emotional Intelligence Assessment (SEI), the Organizational Vital Signs Climate Index and the Assessment of School Climate. Carina is also a coauthor of the SEI Youth Version. She has co-published with Joshua Freedman a scientific article on Leadership and the SEI in the Journal of Leadership Studies.

In addition, she has added value to several Six Seconds' training and project-based initiatives with businesses, such as the Organizational Trust Survey of Triscendance, the Make-a-Difference Project of Wow Learning, SEI assessments for the Bank of Montreal, and several others currently underway. Carina actively works with clients to transform her blend of numerical and conceptual insights to corporate implementation. By concentrating on competency modeling and development, individual/group profiling and behavioral prediction, she empirically demonstrates the relationship between performance, satisfaction and the bottom line.

Her consulting services incorporate a variety of psychometric assessments that measure aptitude, intelligence and knowledge ('can do' competencies), and personality, attitude and motivation ('will do' competencies), depending on the objectives and strategic vision of the client. In developing and/or validating psychometric and job performance measures with rigorous psychometric properties, Carina paves the way for clients to optimize functioning in the workplace and elsewhere. The measures span across an array of individual, 360, group, or organizational applications.

Carina has given many presentations at scientific conferences all over the world, and has written numerous books/chapters in books and articles in journals and newsletters. She has also compiled hundreds of validation, reliability and norm reports in the form of executive summaries, marketing pieces, and developmental and technical reports. She has served on professional boards and as external editor, and has patented a structured observation technique. A seasoned lecturer, trainer, and public speaker, she regularly conducts workshops and group sessions.

Carina's broad research expertise also includes media-effect studies, sample efficacy, customer and employee satisfaction and loyalty, response-rate patterning, consumer conversion, custom profiling, demographic and personal-styles segmentation or clustering, and brand imaging.
